In 1877 twenty volunteers met in an Oakland drawing room to help neighbors in need, and every generation since has answered the same knock. This concept shows how the 150th anniversary can carry that promise into the next chapter of JFCS East Bay.
The story of JFCS East Bay is one act repeated across 150 years: someone arrives at a door and someone opens it. Families from Eastern Europe in the 1870s, people made homeless by the 1906 earthquake, refugees escaping Nazi Germany, Holocaust survivors, and later Soviet Jewish, Bosnian and Afghan families all found that door open.
Today the same door opens for older adults, children and families across Alameda and Contra Costa counties, of every background and belief. We propose that each anniversary story pairs a moment from the past with its counterpart today and closes with a warm invitation to help open the next door, which turns a commemoration into a lasting source of donors, volunteers, partners and referrals.

History drawn from public sources (the JFCS East Bay website and J. Weekly, 1997 and 2007) and to be verified against the JFCS archive.
The campaign line works as a statement of record and as an invitation at once, and it gives every channel, event and appeal in the anniversary year a common voice.
Over the year we publish 150 short portraits of people who opened or walked through a JFCS door, including clients who choose to share their stories, staff, volunteers, donors and partners, all gathered with consent and ethical storytelling practice.
Every story ends with one clear next step, whether that is giving, volunteering, referring a neighbor or bringing JFCS into a workplace, and each step is tracked so the team can see which stories move people to act.
Archive images sit beside their present-day counterparts across social media, the gala program, press materials and a traveling exhibit for East Bay synagogues, libraries and civic spaces.
Here are ten posts across Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn, shown as they would appear in the feed. The imagery is licensed stock used as a stand-in, and in production each post would feature JFCS's own people, archive and footage, gathered with consent.

We would track story-series reach and saves, email sign-ups and 150 Circle donor leads, volunteer inquiries, fee-for-service consultation requests and gala registrations, and review them in a short monthly report that your internal team can run on its own after hand-off.
The open-door story becomes the organizational narrative and the anniversary brand platform, which covers desired outcomes one, two and six.
Separate story tracks reach donors, volunteers, partners, clients and fee-for-service buyers, which covers outcomes three, four and five.
A prioritized plan sized for your staff, with capacity guidance and simple measures for each channel, covers outcomes seven, eight and nine.
